The 56m (183.7ft) sailing yacht ‘Bayesian’ (ex ‘Salute’), arrived at Palma de Mallorca in early June to undergo refit works. RSB Rigging Solutions de-masted the 74m rig, performing a ‘faultless rig-pull’, to refit her masts and rigging just two days after her arrival into Palma. Since then the teams have refit her rig and completed her sea trails. Commenting on the operation, RSB founder Steve Branagh says: “The team we have built over the years is capable of handling all situations, acting fast to find solutions for any mast, rigging, and rope related issues. These qualities, and the experience gained from years of working with large superyachts, are why we are continually approached by the captains of sailing yachts like Bayesian. Bayesian’s sea trials were completed earlier this week. The modifications to the mast have made a huge difference, enabling us to improve the tune which in turn gives the crew more confidence when sailing the boat. With an ideal breeze in the bay we were able to tick off the final tuning jobs which will allow the crew to concentrate on getting the yard period finished and the boat prepped for a Caribbean season. It’s amazing how big this 73 meter mast looked while on the ground and how quickly you get used to the size once its back in the boat. Our rigging technician Andy who has been running the rebuild, re-stepping and tuning operation looked very small while working 60 meters up the mast making minor adjustments to the D6’s. With Andy’s work completed aloft and after a few hours tacking back and forward across the bay we reached back into Palma at 12 knots with a full main, yankee and the staysail unfurled, it certainly beat an afternoon in the office.’’ Captain Stephen Edwards, S/Y Bayesian, commented on the project work by our riggers at RSB Rigging Solutions, ”The collaboration of RSB Rigging and Sea Hawke Rigging have conducted a faultless overhaul of this complex mast and rig. Their professionalism, ‘can do’ attitude, and knowledge have made this a simple project from my point of view. All very confidence inspiring.” Astilleros de Mallorca project managed the refit for Bayesian whilst her rig was out. This is the second headlining project for a Perini Navi-built superyacht that RSB Rigging and Astilleros de Mallorca have worked on together recently. During the last month RSB Rigging have also either stepped or de-stepped over ten superyacht rigs, with no sign of slowing. It is no wonder RSB have made their name as the world’s No.1 rigging service for superyachts. For all enquiries please contact info@rsb-rigging.com |
