With the forecast looking very windy for the rest of the week we had a small weather window today to look at getting the mast unstepped on the Southern Wind 110 Thalima.
As is always the case as soon as the crane set up for the rig pull the breeze built to a very gusty 25+ knots forcing us to call a halt to proceedings. After a couple of hours it clocked around into the North and decreased a little allowing us to connect up the slings and start the lift. Once the rig was in the air it bacame a lot more apparent how much wind was 60 meters up causing a few moments where extra bodies were required on the spreader tag lines. With the butt crane connected in life became a little less stressful as the rig was lowered into the high load trollies and made safe ready for dismantling. The mast will be out for some repair and servicing work before the boat starts a busy Meditteranean season.
