Monday was a very busy day in the yard for all of the RSB Rigging Solutions team.
With Peer sea trialing a new top down furling system onboard the 32 meter yacht Irelanda and Morgan and Andy changing out the headstay and installing the boom on the Rogers 82, Aegir we were a little stretched getting the main and mizzen restepped onboard the 37 meter Perini, Northern Spirit.
The mizzen was stepped quickly allowing us time with the cranes to move the forestays into position on the rig before lifting it off the trollies and attaching the fisherman stay on the back of the mast. As the rig is deck stepped the stays and furler motors extend past the bottom of the mast meaning that each unit is on a trollie for the lift and needs to be manouvered alongside the mast as it is lifted into vertical; not easy with large heavy furler units and a building breeze. Once over the step the stays are seperated out and positioned in preperation for pinning. Yet again the lads did a great job and had the rigs safe by the end of the day and ready for the tuning process to start in the next few days.
