Last week was yet another “flat out ” week for the RSB crew with the unstepping of the Southern Spars mast onboard the 37 meter Briand designed sloop Bristolian. The mast came out with no issues and was quickly set up in the trollies for the undressing procedure so the service work on the EC6 composite standing rigging and hardware can start straight away.

As the the Bristolian project was under way Andy and Morgan were preparing the 50 meter Perini ketch Is A Rose for the unstepping of both her masts on Thursday. Just preparing for the rig pulls on these boats takes around 4 days to set up the lifting slings, disconnect head stays and triatics, support the furling motors that weigh 700kgs each etc..

The unstepping of the 13'000kg mainmast and 7'000kg mizzen on Thursday morning went very well which is always a testament to the great job that the set up team have done. The masts will be out for servicing and painting over the next few months before being re-stepped to enable the boat to get to the Caribbean for the second half of the winter season.
